2011 Recap
December marks the begining of our 2012 Season. After a less than impressive 11th place finish in 2011, 2012 looks to be a better year. A big reason for my poor finish this year was missing events. I missed a total of four events, and with only two throw outs it is difficult to stay in the hunt for the T.O.C. My largest limit of the year was a whopping 9.6lbs at McClure last Decemeber. My largest bass of the year was a solid 6.04lb which fell victim to a Senko at the Delta in October. For me 2012 will be about having fun. With the Smith boys being as busy as they are it is tough to put as mush time and effort I need to be a top contender, but I am okay with that. My term as President of the Modesto AmBassAdors is over, and after January I will no longer be a Cub Scout Leader as my oldest will have moved on to Boy Scouts (if he so choses). You would think that means a little more free time......nope, friend of mine and myself are taking over our kids 4H Fishing Project and the boys are starting Basketball......Here's to another fun filled season....
McClure - Tuesday, November 29th
I headed up to McClure today for a quick....really quick trip to check out the lake before this Sunday's AmBassAdors Outing. I was on the water at 10:30am and back off by 1:30pm. Yes, like many trips in the past I spent more time driving than fishing. But, then again you have to do what you have to do if you want to get out and fish. I hit about 6-7 different spots during my quick three hour trip. Water temp was from 59.7 to 61.4 degrees, the further North I went the water got colder. In typical fashion I stayed on the Southern end of the lake, not making past the Marina on the main lake. Most of the areas I hit today were proven spots, during this time of year in the past. Although I did not boat any fish today. I spent a majority of the day idling through areas and looking for fish. I think if I take a simple approach, and hit my key spots I will be fine this Sunday. I did boat a nice trout while casting a Lake Fork Spoon in about 20' of water. It is cleaned and ready to be fried up to night with some fried potatoes a biscuits......oh yeah!!!!
